The Texas Bar Association recently approved a custom Texas cybersecurity awareness course created by KnowBe4 and Savvy Training & Consulting. The course is SCORM-compliant, provides 1.0 hour of MCLE credit in Texas, and is immediately available.

The course, titled “Texas Cybersecurity Awareness Training 2023/2024,” consists of four modules totaling one hour of training.

  1. Texas Cybersecurity Awareness Training from KnowBe4 (30 minutes): This module covers the cybersecurity training requirements for standard users as identified under Section 2054.5191 of the Texas Government Code for the fiscal year 2023/2024. Topics include information security habits and procedures that protect information resources, with updates to include best practices while working remotely as well as detecting, assessing, reporting, and addressing information security threats.
  2. 2023 Kevin Mitnick Security Awareness Training (15 minutes): Cybercriminals target people just like you. This module featuring industry insiders will give you the valuable information you need to identify and protect yourself and your organization from the techniques and tools malevolent cyber actors use. You’ll also get to see the inner workings of a cyberattack with a demonstration from the world’s most famous hacker, Kevin Mitnick.
  3. Social Media: Staying Secure in a Connected World (10 minutes): The average person spends over two hours a day on social media platforms, connecting with people and organizations. This makes social media a great way for organizations to connect with current and prospective customers. However, the bad guys know this, and social media is one of their largest targets. This module will explore ways to keep yourself and your organization safe from this very real threat.
  4. Introduction to Ransomware (5 minutes): This powerful micro-module takes an employee through the basics of ransomware, the different methods used to infect a machine, and how hackers trick unsuspecting users into downloading infected files.
