Almost 14 years ago, LTC4 (the Legal Technology Core Competencies Certification Coalition) was launched to set a global standard for legal technology proficiency. Now, four legal tech training companies have formed the initial LTC4 Vendor Alliance: Intellek, iTrainLegal, Savvy Training & Consulting, and Harbor. The Alliance is spearheaded by Claire Revell, CEO of Intellek.
“For the first time, we are bringing together the leading vendors in the legal tech training space and getting them to work hand-in-hand with each other and LTC4,” said LTC4 board member Robert Karwic. “This level of collaboration and transparency will lead to better technological competency outcomes for law firms and legal departments seeking certification.”
This pioneering initiative streamlines procurement, enhances training quality, and simplifies the certification process for law firms and legal departments.
What is LTC4?
LTC4 is a non-profit organization that has established legal technology core competencies and certifications that all law firms can use to measure ongoing efficiency improvements. Through certification, LTC4 aims to drive technology fluency and skills development in the legal sector.
The curriculum offers 10 workflow-based Learning Plans designed to ensure that law firm training programs deliver desired competencies.
“Today’s clients understand that they should be getting the maximum amount of productivity for the hours they’re billed,” says Doug Striker, CEO of Savvy Training & Consulting. “With LTC4 certification, attorneys and law firms can prove to their clients that they don’t waste time on simple tasks, like document creation or management.”
What will the LTC4 Alliance Do?
As part of the new alliance, the four founding vendors will meet quarterly to exchange ideas, discuss client projects and feedback, and develop cooperative approaches to serving the legal industry. Claire Revell will also attend LTC4 Board Meetings to provide insights on behalf of all vendors and to ensure open communication around LTC4’s upcoming plans and changes.
The four approved LTC4 vendors may now sell the Core Competencies Framework, as well as their associated training materials and related assessments solutions directly to law firms and legal departments seeking certification. This simplified procurement pathway makes the certification process much easier for buyers to navigate.
“I’m extremely proud to be leading this initiative to transform how approved training vendors serve the legal industry,” said Revell. “Working closely with fellow providers, we will offer a simplified and more collaborative approach that benefits the entire legal ecosystem.”
