Compliance Services for Law Firms

Image shows words: Compliance Services for Law Firms. Savvy & Traliant

At the end of 2023, compliance giant Traliant (that rhymes!) acquired Kantola and Clear Law Institute to create a compliance Swiss Army Knife like you’ve never seen before. Savvy has worked in the past with both Kantola and Traliant, and we could not be happier about representing their compliance services for law firms. As a licensed, certified provider of these compliance services for the legal industry, I believe we now have absolutely everything your law firm needs to stay on top of the insanely nonstop changes occurring across our country in the compliance category.

“HR professionals are drowning in policies that they need to keep up to date for employees across multiple states. This is our Compliance Guarantee: We are monitoring laws at the federal, state and local levels to update all of our course content immediately. This is our fundamental brand promise.”

New Compliance Services for Law Firms

On top of their already engaging, state-of-the-art training products, Traliant has recently rolled out the following:

  • HR Policy and Employee Handbook Service
  • California Workplace Violence Plan and Training Services
  • Investigations Training

Allow me to share more information about each of these new compliance services for law firms.

HR Policy and Employee Handbook Service

When did you last audit your HR policies to ensure they were compliant? The truth is, you need to continually update your HR policies and employee handbook as laws change. If you don’t, and you get sued, you face risk. Perhaps a manager is accused of sexual harassment under a new policy that you haven’t added to your handbook. Your exposure is significant.

But monitoring all of the laws in states where you employee people can be a nearly impossible task. (I mean, you actually have other things on your to-do list!)

Here are just a few of the things you must do in order to keep your HR policies compliant:

  • Identify all the federal and state-required policies in the states where you have employees.
  • Draft policies, ensuring that the language is compliant.
  • Monitor the laws in all states for legal changes.
  • Make the required changes to your policies as laws change.
  • Provide policies upon hiring and require annual employee certification.

Traliant can review all of your current policies, research and review all of the policies that may be missing or lapsed, and then provide monitoring in all the states and jurisdictions where your law firm operates, ensuring that you are always up to date. Contact Savvy if you’d like to learn more about Traliant’s HR policy review service.

California Workplace Violence Prevention Plan

In September 2023, California passed a new law concerning workplace violence prevention. Even if you only have a single employee in California, you need to ensure compliance with this law.

Here’s the real rub: California hasn’t provided a template plan for businesses to use in drafting their own workplace violence prevention policies. But Traliant has, and they are offering this template to their current clients at no cost.

If you have any employees in California, you need to get a policy in place by June 30, 2024. Contact Savvy today to discuss the services that Traliant can provide.

Investigations Training

Often, the people who conduct investigations into compliance allegations have no investigations training. Traliant provides training on evidence-based practices for how to best interview witnesses, assess credibility, and document findings. Here are some details about their Compliance Investigations Trainings:

  • Provided for HR, compliance, security, audit, and legal departments
  • Client-specific training provided in-person or virtually
  • Covers:
    • How to utilize the “Cognitive Interview”
    • How to apply research-based methods for detecting signs of deception and truthfulness
    • The legal requirements for workplace investigations
    • A 6-step process for writing clear and concise investigative reports
