CLE Event Encourages Attorneys to Become Tech Savvy

The Wyoming Bar and the Defense Lawyers Association of Wyoming are hosting a CLE titled “Uphold Your Firm’s Professional Duty to be Tech Savvy” on March 26 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. presented by Jay Stromberg of Savvy Training & Consulting. Attorneys are encouraged to register for the event, as well as law firm technology professionals. Attorney participants will receive 1 ethics credit.

The American Bar Association (ABA) recently adopted a change to the Model Rules of Professional Conduct to clarify that lawyers have a duty to be competent not only in the law and its practice but also in technology. The program on March 26 will be held live in Cheyenne at Hirst Applegate, as well as a webcast, and will outline a process for creating a learning culture in law firms.

The event will cover topics on how to integrate a culture of technology in law firms, including ways to:

  • Get buy-in from management
  • Form a technology committee
  • Administer individualized assessments
  • Increase attorney participation
  • Create customized training, and
  • Offer certifications or other competitive incentives.

“An investment in ongoing education to keep users up to date, and engaged through using best practices, will help position attorneys and staff to provide the best client experience possible and support continued success for your firm,” said Savvy Training’s Jay Stromberg. “Our ongoing goal, and the information shared through this program, will help support those efforts and increase preparedness and effective use of technology.”
