Bucking the Trend: Choose an LMS That Makes You Happy
By Doug Striker, CEO, Savvy Training & Consulting
A recent report published by Brandon Hall Research Group shared some upsetting statistics: “Only 64% of organizations said they were likely to renew their current LMS contract, and 20% confirmed that they will not renew. Perhaps worse, 31% indicated that they would not recommend their current solution to a colleague.”
Now, you might imagine that I, being the CEO of a training and consulting firm with a newly released LMS, would be quaking in my boots. Oh ho! But I’m not! In fact, I’m giddy. Why? Because the SavvyAcademy LMS bucks all the trends that the report blamed for the dismal satisfaction ratings.
How, you ask? I’ll tell you!
The report states: “There are many reasons that drive organizations to make a wholesale change of their LMS, and some of the top reasons identified in Brandon Hall Group’s 2015 LMS Trends Study include:
- Poor customer support
- Desire to move to the cloud
- Lack of social/collaborative tools
- Difficult to use
- Outdated appearance”
I’m going to take each of these “top reasons” one by one and share how the SavvyAcademy LMS is bucking the trend. Better yet, I’m going to let our satisfied (and likely to renew!) customers share their insights.
Poor Customer Support
I could tell you how much we value our relationships with our customers, but why would you listen to me? Here’s what our customers have to say…
“Savvy’s customer service is top notch! Both Doug and Terry go above and beyond the call of duty to answer any questions I’ve asked or to find solutions to issues I’ve encountered. Savvy’s customer service cannot be beat.”

- Tammie L. McQuain, Executive Director, Morris Polich & Purdy LLP

“The price is right, but Doug and Terry are the reasons why we chose SavvyAcademy and never looked back. Of all the software rollouts I’ve ever done, this was the smoothest; they held our hands through the entire process.”
“Savvy’s quick response to questions and issues helps keep us from wasting valuable time. Their willingness to update and improve the LMS is a daily task they provide and there is continuous communication between Savvy and LMS administrators.”
Desire to Move to the Cloud
SavvyAcademy LMS is already cloud-based. And, as noted above, we update the content for you constantly. ‘Nuff said.
Lack of Social/Collaborative Tools
Oh no! We pioneered social collaboration with SavvyAcademy!
Through a dedicated LinkedIn page, we offer a way for our clients to talk with each other. They share tips on how to use SavvyAcademy but they also share challenges and successes that their firm has experienced. This has become a professional peer-to-peer group that helps firms and trainers solve challenges and issues by providing them with access to hundreds of people from firms all over the country.
Difficult to Use
Again, I defer to SavvyAcademy users:
“It is easy to edit or add modules to the LMS. Savvy provides thorough instructions and offers personal help to administrators. Savvy is also available to answer users’ questions or to help administrators with any issues they may encounter.”
“A firm can spend a lot of money bringing in an outside trainer, but Savvy has everything we need, from training materials to learner-guided materials, including quick start guides, videos, exams, etc.”
“I have recommended SavvyAcademy LMS frequently to other firms because the premise of the Savvy LMS works: it is easy to use, there are two ‘flavors’ to choose from (in the cloud or locally managed in-house), the support is AWESOME (the best vendor support I’ve seen anywhere for legal products), and the price is very reasonable.”
Outdated Appearance
The SavvyAcademy LMS is so new and state-of-the-art that users call it “intuitive” and some trainers even report that their staff “like using it.” (Wait. What? People LIKE their training system? I think I just heard an in-house trainer weeping with joy.)
“Staff have been very complimentary about the courses. Comments have ranged from ‘I’ve learned so much’ to ‘This was fun!’ to ‘I know the programs very well, but I even learned something new.’”
Do you think users would say such things about an old, clunky, outdated system?
But wait, there’s more: If you want to brand SavvyAcademy to match your firm’s logo and training materials, you can. Easily.
“We were working behind the scenes on the MPP University portion of the site and Terry helped standardize the look and feel of the site and certificates. She added the MPPU logo on the Savvy portal and also added it to the sign-on screen so it looks like the MPPU portal. Our employees never feel like they are leaving MPPU, even when they are accessing Savvy materials.”
Game. Set. Match.
I believe that the SavvyAcademy LMS represents what the future of training will look like. In addition to everything I listed above, this LMS delivers scalable training capabilities, reportable data down to the individual user and 24/7 support, all for a fraction of the cost of traditional LMS services.
